FIRM BACKGROUND AND SERVICES
Mr. Briggs and the associates of Wm. Briggs & Company, Ltd. started their accounting careers in the specialty of auditing and income taxation. A significant amount of the firm’s work is in the area of business accounting and financial statement preparation, income tax preparation, tax compliance and business valuation. Our personal and business income tax practice provides for the accurate preparation of your Forms 1040, 1120S and 1120C, and 1065 tax returns. We prepare tax returns for all states, as well as for individuals with foreign source income components. Our expertise also includes the preparation of Trust (1041), Gift (706), and Estate (706) Tax Returns.

William D. Briggs is a 1974 graduate of Duke University where he studied Economics. He furthered
his education at the Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management where he received Masters of Management Degrees in Accounting, Finance and International Business in 1976. He
then went on to receive his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1977. In 1997 Mr. Briggs was honored by the American Board of Forensic Accounting with the honorary designation of
Diplomate. Following that, he attained the credential of Certified Valuation Analyst (C.V.A.) by the Board of the National Association of Certified Valuators and
Analysts (NACVA) in 2006.
His 40 plus years in practice as a C.P.A. started with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago in 1975. His expertise includes business compilation and audit services, personal, business, and estate income taxes and consulting, business and estate valuations, forensic examinations, and I.R.S. representation.
Mr. Briggs has been a frequent seminar speaker on the topics of choice of entity and partnership (L.L.C.) taxation. He is a member of the Illinois C.P.A. Society where he has served on the Ethics Committee and Education Committee. As a C.V.A. Mr. Briggs is a specialist in business valuation, and in matters concerning purchase, sale and estate date of death values. As a Diplomate in the American Board of Forensic Accounting, Mr. Briggs has considerable experience in the areas of forensic accounting and litigation support.
